What it is

Specimen pick-up and drop-off is a courier service that transports collected specimens between a site — a clinic, an office, or a patient’s location — and the ordering provider’s partner laboratory. Expedient Phlebotomy Services does not perform testing or produce results; we handle safe, timely transport so that specimens reach the partner laboratory in good condition. This is a logistics service that supports the collection and testing chain, keeping specimens moving without a clinic staffer having to leave the office or a patient having to make the trip.

Who it’s for

This service is for clinics and practices that need routine or on-demand runs to their partner laboratory, and for patients or caregivers who already have a collected specimen or a kit that needs to reach the lab. It’s ideal when the draw is already handled but the transport is the missing piece — a provider’s office clearing the day’s specimens, or a household that simply needs a sample delivered. For practices with regular volume, this service pairs well with the scheduled route and block coverage available through our For Providers program.

What to expect during the visit

At pick-up, our courier confirms the specimen and any accompanying paperwork or requisition, checks that it’s packaged for its handling requirements, and verifies the correct destination. We keep specimens handled appropriately in transit — upright, secure, and at the right temperature when that matters — and deliver promptly to the designated partner laboratory. We handle every specimen with the same care we bring to our own collections, and we coordinate timing with your site so pick-ups fit your workflow rather than interrupting it.

How to prepare

• Have the specimen properly collected, sealed, and labeled before pick-up.
• Include the requisition or paperwork that must travel with the specimen.
• Note any handling requirements — refrigerated, frozen, protected from light, or time-sensitive — when you schedule.
• Confirm the destination laboratory and any drop-off cut-off times.
• Have a contact available at the pick-up location in case our courier has a question.

We never guarantee a specific delivery time, but we do promise careful handling and prompt, professional transport. Our goal is a specimen that arrives in good condition, every run.

Pricing

Specimen pick-up and drop-off is $35 per run. Travel, after-hours, and location surcharges may apply and are always disclosed before we arrive. After-hours and weekend runs add a $35.00 surcharge (anything outside 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, Monday–Friday). Practices with regular volume can ask about scheduled routes through our For Providers program.
