What it is

Venipuncture is the standard method of drawing blood from a vein, usually in the arm, for laboratory testing. It’s the most common blood-collection procedure your provider orders — for routine wellness panels, cholesterol and metabolic panels, blood counts, thyroid checks, medication monitoring, and countless other tests. Expedient Phlebotomy Services performs this collection in the comfort of your chosen location and delivers the specimen to your ordering provider’s partner laboratory, which performs the actual testing.

Who it’s for

Standard venipuncture is right for almost anyone with a valid lab order who would rather not make a trip to a collection site. It’s especially helpful for people with busy schedules, limited mobility, transportation challenges, small children at home, or anxiety about clinical settings. If you have difficult veins or have had trouble with draws in the past, mention it when you book — we specialize in hard sticks and take the time to get it right.

Seniors and patients with mobility challenges

Many of our patients are older adults, recovering from surgery, or unable to drive. We take the time the appointment needs — no rushing, no waiting room, no transportation to arrange. Billed at the same standard rate; there is no additional fee for age, mobility assistance, or extra time at the visit.

What to expect during the visit

Your phlebotomist will confirm your identity and your lab order, answer any questions, and get you comfortable. We’ll select the best vein, clean the site, and collect the tubes your order requires — typically a quick, straightforward process. Afterward we apply a bandage, label everything carefully at your side, and package the specimen for delivery to the partner laboratory. Most routine visits take only a few minutes once we begin.

How to prepare

• Have your lab order or requisition from your provider ready — we cannot draw without one.
• Follow any fasting instructions your provider gave you (for example, some cholesterol and glucose tests require fasting). Fasting for this draw? Ask about an early morning appointment — we regularly collect at 6:00 or 6:30 AM by arrangement so you are not fasting through a commute.
• Drink water beforehand if you’re allowed to — good hydration makes veins easier to access.
• Wear short sleeves or sleeves that roll up easily.
• Have a photo ID available so we can confirm your identity.

We focus on a calm, careful, unhurried draw from start to finish. Our goal is a comfortable experience and a clean, correctly handled specimen every time.

Pricing

Standard venipuncture is $50 per visit. Travel, after-hours, and location surcharges may apply and are always disclosed before we arrive. After-hours and weekend visits add a $35.00 surcharge (anything outside 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, Monday–Friday).
